In the series, Pedro dissects his unique approach to recording a single using tape in the modern day, as well as a myriad of other unique processes and tools he used throughout the process. (Chicago, IL - June 2nd, 2023) sistine by Saint Romanov, premieres Friday, June 2nd, 2023, on all music streaming platforms. The vulnerable, folk-ballad was recorded entirely on tape and was engineered and produced by Electrical Audio engineer and Brazillian-metal producer, Pedro Canaan, at the 33 Ida B Wells Studio in downtown Chicago. 

sistine captures the profound essence of release and surrender, emulating the notion of impermanence, revealing the human inclination to tightly embrace those elements that are inevitably destined for departure. Within this heartfelt exploration, the song encapsulates a rare and poignant beauty, skillfully crafting an emotional landscape that elegantly juxtaposes the profound melancholy of loss with its inherent allure. Complete with vocals, cello, and acoustic guitar (all performed by Judah Vandyke aka Saint Romanov), the track was produced and engineered entirely on tape by renowned São Paulo producer Pedro Canaan, an associate engineer at Steve Albini’s Electrical Audio and founder of the São Paulo-based label, Kalindi Music.

sistine follows Saint Romanov’s last release: MIDAS (released May 12th, 2023), and showcases a far softer, more intimate style than Romanov’s usual concoction of blistering guitar riffs, thunderous drums, and destructive vocals. Romanov will celebrate the release by playing a slew of live shows at punk venues throughout the Chicagoland area. Additionally, Romanov will release a short documentary on Instagram, Youtube, and Tik Tok covering the unique tape recording process of sistine.
